Welcome to Rede River Cottage

Located at Monkridge Hill Farm near the Village of Otterburn, Northumberland.

Situated on a multi award winning farm in the rolling hills of Northumberland near the village of Otterburn. Rede River Cottage is a recently modernised stone built cottage with three en-suite bedrooms, modern all convenience kitchen and a spacious living and dining room with a wood burning stove.

The cottage is located on Monkridge Hill Farm approximately two miles from the villages of Otterburn and East Woodburn. Ideally located in central Northumberland within easy reach of the Scottish border, the Roman wall world heritage site , the Northumberland coast and only 25 minutes from Newcastle airport.

Monkridge Hill Farm

Monkridge Hill Farm is a working farm producing award winning Wagyu beef and Scottish Blackface lamb.

The farm is managed with conservation and wildlife habitat improvement schemes as a priority, it’s situation on the banks of the river Rede attracts a large range number of bird and animals, guests regularly see roe deer, foxes ,badgers and the occasional otter as well as many of our rarest birds both resident and visitors.

Guests can also enjoy some of the farms private facilities ,the border county way passes the farm offering spectacular walks across the border hills, the farm also has a well stocked small fishing lake for our guests to try their hand at fly fishing as well as ¾ mile of fishing on the river Rede, famed for it’s salmon and trout fishing.

The rivers Tyne and Tweed are only a short drive away for the enthusiastic salmon fisher. Other rural facilities in the area include horse riding, cycling , a local golf course and clay pigeon shooting.

As this is a working farm with livestock we do not allow any dogs. There is a very good boarding kennel in the village of East Woodburn within walking distance of the cottage.

Your welcome pack will include all your breakfast needs for the first day of your stay, free range eggs from our own hens, sausage, bacon , beans, bread, cereals , coffee, tea ,fruit juice and a fruit bowl for your convenience.
